User Guide

1. Grant Permissions

On first launch, please allow camera access to scan barcodes in real-time. If you want to import from photos, grant photo access permission.

2. Add Barcodes

Tap the + button in the top right of the main screen, then select "Scan with Camera" or "Choose from Photos" to add barcodes.

3. Manage Barcodes

  • Tap an entry to edit its name, color tag, and notes
  • Use the search bar to enter keywords and quickly find barcodes
  • Enable "Show Barcode Content" to view the complete encoded data

4. Share Barcodes

On the detail page, tap "Share" to export the barcode image with its name and description, making it easy to send to friends or other devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the app need camera access?

Mr. BarCode needs camera access to scan barcodes in real-time. The app does not capture or store your images - it only uses them to recognize barcode information.

Which barcodes can be scanned?

Supports common formats including QR Code, EAN-13, EAN-8, Code 39, Code 128, and PDF417. If a specific barcode cannot be recognized, please contact us with a sample image.

How do I categorize or customize barcode appearance?

Enter the barcode detail page to modify its name, color tag, and notes, making your list easier to browse.

Does it work offline?

Yes. All features work locally and do not require an internet connection.

Does the app collect my data?

No. All barcode data is stored only on your device. We do not sync, upload, or share your information.

Troubleshooting

Cannot focus or slow recognition when scanning

  • Ensure the barcode is completely within the frame and keep your phone steady
  • Increase ambient lighting or avoid reflections
  • Try maintaining a distance of 10-15 cm between the barcode and the camera

No barcode detected after importing photo

  • Ensure the barcode in the image is clear and not cropped
  • Try cropping the image or using a higher resolution original file
  • Currently only supports single barcode recognition - ensure each photo contains only one barcode for batch imports

Color tag or name not updating

  • Make sure you've pressed save after editing
  • If old data still appears, try restarting the app

Privacy & Security

  • Barcode data is stored only on your iPhone/iPad with local encryption
  • The app does not access or track your location, contacts, or other personal data
  • No third-party analytics, ads, or cloud sync
  • Regular device backups are recommended to ensure barcode data safety
